Ghost Ship on the Bosporus
Ghost Ship on the Bosporus investigates the issues pertaining to globalization in Turkey's efforts to join the European Union. This documentary aims to educate Western audiences about the current political and economic conditions in Turkey and to challenge the oversimplifications of this largely Muslim culture in mainstream US and European media. The interviews are conducted in Turkish and multiple perspectives are represented to suggest that the difference between Europe and Turkey is not only cultural, but economic and political.
I started filming 7 years ago. Each time I went back, the places and people I filmed had disappeared. On the outside, it's a political film. Inside, it's a personal film.
